Ruth Umthun ’06 teaches English at a high school in Shimonoseki, Japan.
Katy Keese ’06 is a 9-12 vocal music instructor at Bondurant, Iowa, High School.
Angie Husman ’03 teaches 5-12 instrumental music in Woodbine, Iowa.
Derek Beekhuizen ’02 teaches instrumental music at Sioux Center High School, Iowa.
Barb Burlingame ’99 won $1,000 as one of 30 finalists in the 2003 Chicago area Sauve Performance Plus Award competition. She is the band director at Hirsch Metropolitan High School in inner-city Chicago.

Matt Ploeger ’04 serves as worship/ministry team leader in the chaplain’s office at Central College in Pella, Iowa.
Andrew Paterik ’03 is the director of music and worship at Crete (Illinois) Reformed Church.
Andrea Weinert ’02 works as the assistant music director at Park Community Church in downtown Chicago.
Graduate school
Alaina Archer ’05 is a graduate student at North Park Theological Seminary, Chicago.
Jeff Postma ’05 is a music performance graduate student at Butler University, Indiana.
Emily Feekes ’04 is pursuing a Master of Music degree at the University of South Dakota.
Beth Sederstrom ’02 is a graduate student in ethnomusicology at Bethel College, St. Paul, Minnesota. She also serves as media director at Hope Chapel in Kihei, Hawaii.
Ruth Meyers ’95 is pursuing a master’s degree in music therapy at Colorado State University. She teaches private piano and is the staff accompanist at Heart of the Rockies Christian Church in Ft. Collins, Colorado.
Performance
Rose Van Mersbergen ’98 received a doctorate in organ performance from the University of Michigan.
Susan Van Kley ’87, Ridgefield, Conn., earned a Master of Music degree in voice and opera at Northwestern University. She has soloed at Carnegie Hall; performed with the Santa Fe, Washington and Chautauqua operas; and sung with orchestras in Maryland, Florida and Indiana.
