In addition to teaching at Northwestern, Professor De Haan is the assistant band director for the Sioux Center (Iowa) Middle School and maintains a private studio in her home for high school flute and saxophone students. She also serves as a judge for solo-ensemble contests and the Iowa all-state auditions. An active recitalist and flutist in the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra, she received a Master of Music degree in flute performance from the University of South Dakota and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa.
