A retired member of the United States Army Band, “Pershing’s Own,” Professor Bogenrief held the position of special bugler in Arlington National Cemetery and at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He served as enlisted director and frequent soloist on soprano E flat and solo B flat cornet. He is the principal trumpet with the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Sioux City Symphony, the South Dakota Symphony and the Sioux City Symphony Brass Quintet. Professor Bogenrief earned a Master of Music degree in trumpet performance at the University of South Dakota and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa.
