Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band is an ensemble of approximately 60 select musicians that performs a wide variety of wind band repertoire from the Renaissance to contemporary periods of music. In addition, it has commissioned and premiered works by leading American composers and performed with numerous professional guest soloists and conductors.
The band, directed by Dr. Timothy McGarvey, performs many concerts on campus and also represents Northwestern College on annual tours throughout the United States and abroad. The concert tours have led band members to every section of the continental U.S. and to the countries of Ukraine, Venezuela and Mexico.
Three major concerts and a concert tour are prepared each year. Membership is open to all students and is by audition only.
