A cappella Choir

The A cappella Choir, a mixed choral group of 60 to 80 members, represents Northwestern on annual tours throughout the United States and Canada. The choir toured the Czech Republic and Austria in the spring of 2004.

Established in 1928, the ensemble has performed on national radio and television, for state music educator conventions and on Iowa Public Television. The A cappella Choir sings styles of choral literature from the Renaissance through the 21st century and frequently performs major choral works with area symphony orchestras.

In addition to its annual tour, the ensemble participates in Northwestern’s annual Fall Family Weekend concert, Christmas Vespers and spring concert. The choir also performs for area churches.

Directed by Dr. Thomas Holm, the choir is open to students of all academic disciplines. Membership is by audition only.
