Barb Dewald says one of her greatest pleasures is “thinking about and being involved in the spiritual growth and development of students.” She oversees discipleship at Northwestern College, including training and development for campus ministry student leaders, discipleship coordinators and Bible study leaders. Her service experience includes feeding ministries, prison ministry, Native American ministries and refugee resettlement. She also has participated in short-term missions trips across the U.S. and in Brazil, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, the Netherlands and Trinidad.
Dewald has an M.A. in counseling, guidance and personnel services from the University of South Dakota and an M.Div. from North American Baptist Seminary in Sioux Falls, S.D. Her college and university experience includes working in admissions, student activities and residence life in addition to campus ministry. She has held leadership roles in the Fellowship of Short-Term Mission Leaders and co-authored that organization’s Standards of Excellence in Short-Term Mission. Dewald is also a member of the Campus Ministry Commission of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) and in 2008 received the CCCU’s Dana Walling Award for Excellence in Campus Ministry.
