Students to participate in summer missions

Apr 26, 2006

Twenty-two students from Northwestern College will spend their summer on short-term mission experiences as members of the college’s Summer of Service (SOS) team.

Each student will spend at least six weeks overseas or in the United States, serving with Christian missionaries and mission agencies that match their gifts, interests and theology.

Team members will be assisting in arts and Bible camps, orphanages, churches, schools, health clinics and hospitals with ministries such as Pioneers International, Save Orphans Ministries, The Luke Society and World Relief.

The students are traveling to 19 different countries including Bahrain, Brazil, China, Croatia, England, France, Ghana, Greece, India, Ireland, Jamaica, Malawi, Romania, Russia, Thailand, Turkey, South Africa, the Netherlands and the United States.

For 24 years, Northwestern College’s SOS program has challenged, prepared and encouraged students to be effective Christian servants. Team members raise their own funds through the support of family, friends and their churches. This year’s team has raised $56,000 so far; they hope to raise a total of $85,000.
