Campus ministry leadership opportunities
The college years are about discovering your strengths and interests—and then finding a place to use them. Among the numerous leadership opportunities for students at Northwestern are a long list of ways students can lead in service to others through involvement in campus ministry. Campus ministry team (CMT) members learn leadership skills, reflect on their personal abilities and character, and focus on their own spiritual development. They are students who are committed to growing in Christ and inspiring others to do the same.
A number of paid CMT positions are available, as well as many more volunteer opportunities. Students who apply and are selected will participate in CMT through training retreats, conferences and meetings. Campus ministry team members work approximately five hours per week with professional campus ministry staff and each other in one of four ministry areas:
Community service learning
- Enlaces en Cristo – 1 student leader coordinates a team that interacts with and ministers to local Hispanic residents. Team members teach ESL and work closely with the ministry of Amistad Cristiana (a Spanish-speaking congregation in nearby Sioux Center).
- Called2Go – 1 student leader coordinates campus activities and educational programs that address national and international hunger and homeless issues.
- International Justice Mission – 1 student leader oversees Northwestern’s IJM campus chapter.
