Meeting the athletic training technical standards with accommodation

If a student states he or she can meet the program’s technical standards with accommodation, Northwestern’s academic support department will evaluate the student to confirm the stated condition qualifies as a disability under applicable laws. If it does, the college will determine whether it agrees the student can meet the program’s standards with reasonable accommodation. This includes a review of whether the accommodation requested is reasonable, taking into account whether the accommodation would jeopardize clinician/patient safety or the educational process of the student or the institution, including all course work, clinical experiences and internships deemed essential to graduation.
