History internships
Add to your education by learning outside of the classroom. As a history major at Northwestern, you’ll have a variety of options for an internship that will give you practical hands-on experience. Our students have worked in museums and city government offices while part of the Chicago Semester program. Others have studied and lived in Washington, D.C., through the American Studies Program, where they interned for members of Congress and for nonprofit organizations such as the Holocaust Museum.
History majors are also eligible to apply for an internship in the Reformed Church in America (RCA) archives at New Brunswick Theological Seminary in New Jersey. In addition to working in the RCA archives, the internship includes an archival course at Rutgers University, a history reading course with a seminary faculty member, and at least one professional conference of archivists.
