Jay Wielenga was hired as Northwestern’s director of development in 2001 after serving as the college’s director of alumni relations for six years. As such, he works with donors to secure major gifts, manages the Imagine Campaign, supervises staff working with alumni and parent relations, and serves as the liaison to NWC’s Red Raider Club, an athletic booster organization.
Wielenga helped raise funds for the renovation of Zwemer Hall, the construction of the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center, and the upgrades at De Valois Stadium, including new seating, a new pressbox, and resurfacing of Korver Field with FieldTurf. A Northwestern graduate, he is also a graduate of the National Planned Giving Institute. Prior to returning to joining Northwestern’s advancement staff, he worked for the University of Sioux Falls as an admissions counselor and then director of financial aid before spending 10 years as a medical representative for Syntex Laboratories.
Wielenga is a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the Christian Stewardship Association.
