Instructor in English as a Second Language

Professor Braaksma spent three years teaching English as a second language (ESL) in Japan and another three years teaching in an ESL master’s degree program in China. She operated her own business for a number of years in Holland, Michigan, providing customized ESL services for businesses, community education programs and churches. She also served as an ESL instructor and department chair at Davenport University in Holland.
Braaksma holds a master’s degree in teaching English as a second or other language from Michigan State University. She has made presentations at annual conferences of MITESOL (Michigan Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) and has had an article entitled “Frontier Vocabulary” published in the organization’s newsletter.
