Athletics

Athletic Scholarship
A limited number of Northwestern Athletic Scholarships are available for talented student-athletes who participate in intercollegiate athletics at NWC. The scholarships are awarded by the head coach for each sport in conjunction with the financial aid office, and are based upon the student’s special achievements and potential for further development. More



Bill Boote Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of Bill Boote ’61 in recognition of his deep affection for Northwestern College and its athletic department. One or more scholarships are awarded to student-athletes majoring in the field of education. More



Draayer Athletic Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of John B. Draayer by his family. It is given in recognition of John’s long-standing commitment to and interest in Northwestern College’s athletic program. More



Hebrews 12:1 Scholarship
This scholarship was established by David and Kay Wolf. Applicants must be incoming freshman student-athletes who demonstrate financial need and a sincere Christian faith and character. More



Joshua Scholarship
Established in honor of former head football coach Larry Korver ’54, this scholarship is designated for a member of the football team with demonstrated financial need. The recipient must show evidence of strong Christian commitment. More



Thomas R. Keyser Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was funded with gifts made in memory of Thomas R. Keyser, the young son of Bob ’75 and Cathie Keyser. Recipients must be juniors or seniors who have received a varsity letter in football, men’s basketball or women’s basketball. More



Steve & Kathy King Academic/Football Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Steve ’72 and Kathy ’72 King to provide financial assistance for student-athletes who excel academically. It is given to a member of the intercollegiate football team who has a cumulative GPA of 3. More



William G. & Birdella Korver Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of William G. and Birdella ’22 Korver by their children and grandchildren in recognition of the Korver family’s significant commitment to and involvement with Northwestern College. Scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who are seeking a career in Christian service. More



William M. & Mathilda Korver Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of William M. and Mathilda Korver by their children and grandchildren in recognition of Bill’s and Matilda’s conviction and commitment that Christians have been called to serve. Two scholarships are awarded to students who exhibit a strong commitment to Jesus Christ, have a strong academic record, and are involved in the college’s co-curricular program. More



Murchison Christian Athletic Scholarship
This award is provided by a grant from the Murchison Foundation. The scholarship is awarded to a Northwestern athlete who demonstrates outstanding Christian leadership. More



Science Athletic Scholarship
Established by David ’77 and Anita ’77 Bomgaars, this scholarship is available for a student with strong Christian faith and character who has a strong interest in biology and/or science fields and who participates in the athletic program at Northwestern. The recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 3. More



Paul & Jennie Smith Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman student-athlete who intends to participate in the men’s soccer program. It is renewable provided the scholarship recipient continues to meet requirements. More



Lou & Johanna Van Batavia Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by James and Mary Jane Rozeboom ’53 in memory of Mary Jane’s parents, Lou and Johanna Van Batavia. It is available to students in their junior or senior year who display Christian character. More



Kyle Vande Berg Memorial Scholarship
In memory of Kyle Vande Berg, this scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student involved in intercollegiate athletics. More



Elwin Van Gorp Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by family, friends and teammates in memory of Elwin Van Gorp ’75 and his faithful and ardent support of the Northwestern College athletic program in general and the football program in particular. It is available to a junior or senior student-athlete who has received a varsity football letter. More
