Scholarships
You can earn scholarships or awards simply for being a good student or participating in a co-curricular activity at Northwestern College. Still other scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need or if you match certain criteria, such as choice of a major, career goals or church membership.
Academic scholarships
Northwestern offers a number of competitively awarded academic scholarships to high school graduates who meet the criteria of class rank, cumulative grade point average, ACT or SAT scores and other requirements.
Merit scholarships
A number of scholarships are available in art, athletics, music and theatre. The scholarships are based upon past achievements and potential for further development. Awards are made for a year at a time (up to a total of eight semesters) and are reviewed at the end of each year. Submitting an admission application begins the scholarship process. For more information, contact the appropriate department:
Special scholarships and grants
Numerous special scholarships and grants are available to Northwestern students through the generosity of alumni and friends of the college. The application process for these awards opens in mid-November; the application deadline for consideration for the fall semester of 2009 is Jan. 16, 2009.
Trustee Scholarship
Students who demonstrate financial need and show evidence of academic promise may be eligible to receive a Trustee Scholarship. These scholarships vary in size and require filing the FAFSA.
