Theatre Department Scholarship
The Theatre Department Scholarship is a $1,500 competitive one-year scholarship available to an incoming freshman or transfer student who intends to major in theatre at Northwestern College. The recipient is chosen from among those students who have applied and been awarded a Theatre Production Scholarship.
Theatre Production Scholarship
The Theatre Production Scholarship is available to students who are or plan to be involved in theatre productions at NWC. It is awarded to students with experience in one or more areas of theatre, including acting, playwriting, scenery, lighting, costuming, properties, directing, stage management and house management. A major in theatre is not required. Awards are made by the theatre department faculty in conjunction with the financial aid office and are based on an application, recommendation, and audition or interview.
Scholarship recipients must maintain good academic standing and meet the college's eligibility requirements for participation in co-curricular activities. They must also be involved at some level in every production of the theatre department. Registration in the course Theatre Production Ensemble is required, as is at least 90 hours of work each semester in some area of theatrical production.
The Theatre Production Scholarship is renewable, and awards are evaluated on a yearly basis. To apply, download the application form and follow the instructions for submitting references and scheduling an interview. Application deadlines are Dec. 1, 2012, and March 1, 2013.
Other theatre scholarships
Alumni and friends of Northwestern College have established a number of privately funded scholarships for current students majoring in theatre. The theatre faculty and financial aid office choose recipients who best meet the criteria established by the donors. No applications are required.
