Dr. Westerholm earned a doctorate from the University of Connecticut and taught both there and at the State University of New York at Cortland before coming to Northwestern. His research has been largely on the intersections of Victorian poetry and Christianity, but he also has published articles on the poetry of Derek Walcott, post-colonial literature, and literary theory based on the philosophy of Jacques Derrida. He teaches courses in 19th- and 20th-century English literature, interpretation theory, and contemporary world literature.
