Northwestern College has a full-time, 10-month (Aug. 1 through May 30) opening for a laboratory coordinator to work in the biology and chemistry labs beginning Aug. 1. Primary responsibilities include biology laboratory preparation and clean-up (ex. Biology 101, 102, 115, 116, 202, 203), teaching sections of Chemistry 101 laboratories, and assisting with biology laboratories (ex. Biology 101, 102, 115, 116, 121). Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, ordering and stocking materials for biology laboratories, supervising biology department work-study students, and maintaining biology laboratory order and cleanliness.
Three to five years of combined biology and chemistry laboratory experience as an undergraduate and a B.A. or B.S. in biology or chemistry are required. Two years of undergraduate chemistry laboratory experience is preferred. Applicant should be able to prepare solutions, make bacterial media, dissect specimens, and set up, use and trouble-shoot laboratory equipment. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills are required. Applicants must also have the ability to adapt to a changing work environment.
