Assistant Professor of Biology

Northwestern College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in biology beginning fall 2013. We are seeking a candidate with a doctorate or nearly completed doctorate in biology; successful teaching experience, a record of scholarship and interest in supervising undergraduate research projects are highly desired.

The successful candidate will teach courses that include Introduction to Human Anatomy with laboratory (Bio 121), Introduction to Human Physiology with laboratory (Bio 122), Introductory Biology, and upper-division courses in the candidate’s area of expertise and interest. A typical semester teaching load is two courses plus associated laboratories. Additional responsibilities include advising and recruiting students, scholarship, and departmental/committee service.

 

 

 

The Department of Biology has six full-time faculty members and offers three majors, biology-health professions, biology, and ecological science. In total, there are approximately 120 students in these majors. Cognate courses for the Departments of Nursing and Kinesiology contribute to the department’s teaching responsibilities.
