Music/Strings (adjunct)

Northwestern College announces a part-time faculty position in Chamber Orchestra conducting and string methods.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching responsibilities include directing the Chamber Orchestra and teaching string methods courses. Teaching applied lessons on instrument of expertise and/or other courses based on the candidate’s background and experience is also a possibility, depending on the qualifications of the candidate. The successful candidate will also be expected to assist in departmental recruiting efforts in the string area.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a master’s degree in music (doctorate preferred). The successful candidate will have the expertise and ability to direct our Chamber Orchestra and teach in their applied area or expertise. We seek a strong musician with broad knowledge and excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills. Affiliated with the Reformed Church in America, Northwestern College seeks candidates with an authentic Christian faith who will support the college’s mission, Reformed and evangelical identity, and commitment to Christian liberal arts as expressed in our Vision for Learning.

DEPARTMENT: The music department has five full-time and 23 adjunct faculty members. The program has approximately 55 majors and minors and is housed in the Christ Chapel/ Performing Arts Center and DeWitt Music Hall. Visit www.nwciowa.edu/music for more information.

SALARY/RANK: Lecturer.
