Professor Durham has professional experience in broadcast television and has written scripts for the Family Channel (The Knock, Knock Show) and Christian Broadcasting International (Story Teller Café). In 2007, a feature-length film written and directed by Durham, The Prairie Pirates, was honored as the best children’s film at the Creation Arts Festival, a family and Christian film festival, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. A “comedy with heart,” The Prairie Pirates tells the story of a hidden pirates’ treasure buried in, of all places, Iowa. Children stumble onto a treasure map and must rely on their wits to solve its riddle, unearth the loot and save their community from greedy developers. Durham shot The Prairie Pirates in northwest Iowa in 2005 and 2006. The film premiered in Orange City theatres in March 2007. The Prairie Pirates also has been shown in theatres in Sioux City, Iowa, and Nashville, Tenn. Durham has a bachelor’s degree in business and an M.F.A. in script and screenwriting from Regent University in Virginia.
