Mixing it up
When he’s not in the lab, Tim keeps busy as a varsity football player and wrestler. He’s interested in the pharmaceutical side of chemistry and hopes, after graduating from Northwestern, to enroll in a pharmacy graduate program. He is especially interested in the latest drugs and what benefit they may have. Before his junior year, Tim spent the summer as an intern for Sandoz Pharmaceuticals in Broomfield, Colorado.

A winning formula
“Before college, my life was sports, family and friends—with God set to the side. I almost decided on another college just to play football and wrestle. But I decided to pray about it, and after turning the decision over to God, I realized following the will of God is more important than living just to play sports or hang out with my family and friends. That’s where Northwestern came in. God is the center of this campus. In addition, it’s a friendly community where you can develop lifelong friendships, and the athletic program is at the top of its game. This is the perfect college for me.”

The right elements
“The department’s main strength is the knowledge of the chemistry professors and the lengths they go to share it with us. They’re always willing to help if you’re struggling with concepts. The department also offers free tutoring, which means I can get extra help even if my professors have gone for the day.”

Lab of learning
“Chemistry has furthered my knowledge of the complexity and precision of God’s creation—and that, in turn, has helped me grow in my faith. And chemistry is only one small part of God’s creation—I’m so humbled by how much I have yet to learn and how much I may never comprehend.”

Value added
“I’m gaining so much more than just an education here. I’m gaining lifelong friends among the students—even the faculty and staff. I plan on keeping these friends no matter where God puts me in the world.”
