Banking on it
Danielle enjoys figuring out how businesses and financial institutions work. With her interest in understanding the behind-the-scenes activities necessary for an organization to run smoothly—as well as her enjoyment of working with both numbers and people—she realized business and accounting were good majors for her. Intrigued by a career in finance, she participated in a summer internship as a bank examiner for the FDIC in Sioux City, Iowa. On campus, she has been an accounting and economics tutor and an instructor for inmates through Crossroads Bible Institute.
Bottom line
“I wanted to go to a Christian college that had a good reputation for academics. Northwestern fit that description perfectly.”
Faith at work
“Northwestern has both strengthened and challenged my faith. I have learned how to be a successful Christian businesswoman in today’s world. For example, the professors challenge us to think about practical business problems we will encounter and how to deal ethically with them. We need to ask ourselves, ‘What would Jesus do?’”
Training and development
“The business professors are always willing to help or answer any questions in order for you to not only learn but understand. They are willing to give of their time and knowledge to further your education.”
Executive insight
“Participating in Northwestern’s Business Club has given me a look at real-life business people and provided insights into what different parts of business are like. We meet about once a month and either go to area businesses such as the Pizza Ranch headquarters or have people from industries like Diamond Vogel come and talk to us. Our speakers usually explain what they do, how they got started there, and what the requirements are for doing their job.”
Wise investment
“Northwestern offers so much more than higher education. Northwestern offers a Christian community with encouragement and support. Everybody is friendly and willing to help. The friends and memories I have made will last a lifetime.”
