Campus opportunities for business students
Business Club
The Business Club brings in professional speakers and sponsors educational and community service projects. It also plans social activities.
SIFE
Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) is an international organization that provides college students with the opportunity to develop leadership, teamwork and communications skills through learning, practicing and teaching the principles of free enterprise. Chapters develop projects that make a difference in others’ lives by applying classroom knowledge to real-life situations. The students compete for prize money at regional and national expositions and network with executives at career fairs.
Northwestern’s SIFE chapter has won regional championships five out of the six years it has been in existence, and has competed at the national level five times. A project that involved helping fifth graders create and operate their own cookie business enabled NWC to win the SIFE/Discover National Teach A Child About Business Week competition. Other Northwestern SIFE endeavors have included presentations on business ethics and personal finance to high school classes, market research for the Orange City Chamber of Commerce, and an aqua-science project that ultimately aims to help Third-World families raise fish and grow vegetables through a self-sustaining system.
