Terra Nova

Terra Nova, Northwestern College’s ecology club, includes both ecological science majors and other students who care about environmental stewardship. Terra Nova students participate in field trips and science conferences. They also coordinate campus recycling and other activities that raise awareness for environmental issues and promote environmental stewardship. Currently Terra Nova members are participating in the Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ IOWATER program, monitoring the water quality of northwest Iowa rivers and streams. Terra Nova also is responsible for the college’s 21-acre tallgrass prairie near Hawarden, Iowa, which serves as an outdoor laboratory for ecological science students.
