Pre-optometry
The pre-optometry program prepares students for entrance into a college of optometry and an eventual career as an optometrist. As primary eye care providers, optometrists examine eyes in order to diagnose—and in some cases, treat—vision problems and eye diseases. They prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses and therapy.
Students may be accepted into a college of optometry after three years of undergraduate work, but the majority of those accepted have earned a B.A. degree. Optometric education is four years.
