Biology facilities and labs

Northwestern’s recently renovated science laboratories include a research laboratory with state-of-the-art electrophysiology set-ups that are used in muscle physiology, neurophysiology and pharmacology experiments. Intracellular and extracellular amplifiers, stimulators, physiograph and data recorders are used both for faculty and student research. Students also have access to electrophoresis equipment, a PCR machine and a tissue culture hood. A cadaver lab offers students majoring in health professions the opportunity to have a real human anatomy experience before enrolling in medical school and other professional programs. And for science students who prefer a little bigger lab, the college’s tallgrass prairie and forest offer a “fresh” alternative.
