Study cells in our labs and ecology at our prairie restoration site. Gain new appreciation for God's creation as you explore the complexity and diversity of the natural world. Biologists and health professionals today face many complex scientific and ethical questions. Northwestern College’s “wisdom education” prepares students in the sciences to engage those questions with excellence of both mind and character.

Biology is one of Northwestern College’s largest majors, preparing students for careers in fields as diverse as conservation and medicine. Both Northwestern's biology and ecological science programs are included in Rugg's Recommendations on the Colleges, a national guidebook that recommends specific college departments to prospective students. Our graduates gain admission to and excel in the nation’s top medical and graduate schools, reporting they feel well prepared and confident in their graduate courses.

As a biology student at NWC, you’ll get personal attention from scientists who love to teach and will mentor you through challenging courses. They'll prepare you for the next step: the MCAT, medical school, graduate school or research. Northwestern’s biology faculty will connect you to the people, experiences, jobs and graduate schools that will help you discover how to turn your interests into a career.
