Women's Golf Team Makes Spring Debut

MATCHTIME...Friday, April 20, with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m., at Landsmeer Golf Club. Teams participating will be: Northwestern Red, Northwestern White, Briar Cliff, Dakota Wesleyan, Dana and Morningside.
LAST TIME OUT...This is the first spring event in which the Red Raiders will play in. They have had a number of meets cancelled so far due to the wet conditions. NWC last played in the GPAC Championships last fall where they tied with Dana for fifth place at 740. Melissa Hisel and Alison Stutzman tied for 10th place individually with a 178 while Paige Kleinwolterink carded a 192 and placed 26th.
SCOUTING REPORT...Northwestern is led by junior Melissa Hisel, a three-time all-conference player for the Raiders. Hisel has placed in the top ten in every one of her meets this season and carries an 86.4 average into today's match. Freshman Kelsey Shiflett has three top 10 finishes this season and is averaging a 93.9. Alison Stutzman (94.8) and Paige Kleinwolterink (95) have the next best scoring averages.
Reigning GPAC and regional champion Dakota Wesleyan is in the tournament field. The Tigers won the conference meet last fall with a 701. Morningside placed second with a 723.
NEXT UP...Coach Hoftyzer and his squad will have one final tune-up before the regional meet on April 30 - May 1. The Raiders will participate in the Briar Cliff Invite at Two Rivers Golf Club on April 24. The Invite will begin at 10:00 a.m.
