Oct 14, 2006

Melissa Hisel
Alison Stutzman
The women's golf team earned a berth in the NAIA Region III Championship with a fifth place finish at the GPAC Championship hosted by Dana College at River Wilds Golf Course. The top five teams from the conference meet qualify for the regional championship, which will be held in the spring at a site to be determined. The Raiders, who were in third place after the first day, shot a two-day total of 740, nine shots behind fourth place Midland Lutheran. Dakota Wesleyan won the championship for the fifth consecutive year with a 701. Morningside (723) and Hastings (724) finished in second and third place, respectively.

Individually, Melissa Hisel and  Alison Stutzman earned all-conference honors as they finished in a tie for tenth place with a 178. Individual players who finish in the top ten at the conference championships automatically earn all-conference status. An additional five players will receive the honor via coaches ballot later this week. Hisel, a junior from Boise, Idaho, earned the honor for the third consecutive year. Stutzman, a senior from Austin, Minn., earned all-conference status for the first time. Junior Paige Kleinwolterink (192) and freshman Kelsey Shiflett (194) round out the scoring for the Raiders.

The conference championship concludes the fall season for the women's golf team. The spring season will get under way late March or early April of 2007. Click on the link below to view the official GPAC results and press release:
