Maggie Achterhof (Orange City, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue her golf and volleyball careers at Northwestern College next year.
Achterhof, the daughter of Rick and Paula, is a 6’0” outside hitter from MOC-Floyd Valley High School. Her junior season she tallied 277 kills and had 34 solo blocks. She served with a .926 accuracy and averaged 1.9 digs per game. Achterhof earned fifth team Class 3A all-state honors last year and was also a first team all-district and all-conference selection. Also a quality student, she is a member of the National Honor Society.
According to Head Coach Kyle Van Den Bosch, “Maggie is one of the best pure athletes to come out of MOC-Floyd Valley High School. She brings a rare combination of length, quickness and athleticism to the outside hitter position. Maggie has the tools to be an impact player at the college level. She has a caring personality and her love for people make her a welcome addition to the team. We are excited to have Maggie join the Northwestern volleyball family.”
As a junior on the golf team, Achterhof placed 15th at the state meet. A first team all-conference selection, her low score for the season was a 42 at Okoboji.
Said Head Coach Harold Hoftyzer, “I am extremely excited about Maggie signing to play golf at Northwestern. She is very competitive athlete and has been part of a successful high school program. She will help the Raiders reach their potential in the years to come.
