Shiflett Holes an Ace at Dakota Wesleyan Invite

Aug 30, 2006

Kelsey Shiflett, playing in her first collegiate golf meet, carded a hole-in-one at the Econo Lodge/DWU Invitational played at  Wild Oaks Golf Club in Mitchell, S.D. The freshman from Humboldt, Iowa, used a seven-iron on the 135-yard, par three twelvth hole to record the ace. It is the third hole-in-one recorded by a women's golfer in a meet at Northwestern and the first one since Heather Horstman accomplished it at the national meet in 1995. Paula Knudson carded the other ace for the Red Raiders.

The Red Raiders finished fifth at the meet with a score of 376. The host school, Dakota Wesleyan, won the invite with a 329. Junior Melissa Hisel led the Raiders with a 13-over 85 and finished in a tie for sixth place.

NW will next host the Red Raider Invitational this Friday, Sept. 1, at Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City, Iowa.
