Burlea Plays in All-Star Game

Mihai Burlea was selected to play for the North Division in the Northwoods League All-Star game played Wednesday, July 11th. This year's All-Stars were chosen in a vote by the 14 member teams of the Northwoods League. Ballots were cast by each team's field staff, radio and/or media contact. Burlea was one of two Brainerd players to be selected for the game.
Burlea is currently 3-1 with a 2.06 ERA for the Blue Thunder and has recorded 40 strike outs, his ERA and strike outs both are top 10 in the league. Burlea, the 2007 GPAC and Region III Pitcher of the Year, pitched in the 6th inning of the game striking out both batters he faced throwing only seven pitches on the night. The North defeated the South 3-2. The game is scheduled to air nationally on ESPNU on Friday, July 13th at 8 PM.
Burlea will rejoin a Northwestern team that went 37-18 (14-8 conf.) last spring and reached Super Regional play before being eliminated.
