GPAC Baseball Tournament Set; NWC Earns Third Seed
|
Apr 30, 2007
The 2007 GPAC postseason baseball tournament is set and Northwestern has earned the third seed out of eight teams. This year's double-elimination tournament is hosted by Hastings College and will begin on Thursday, May 3, at 9:00 AM. The champion will be crowned on Saturday, May 5, and will advance to the NAIA Region III tournament next week.
Northwestern finished the year with a 14-8 GPAC mark and tied Dakota Wesleyan for third place. The Raiders, however, earned the higher seed due to the GPAC tie-breaking rules, and will play #6 Morningside on Thursday at noon. Coach Wede's squad is 31-13 overall, and established a new record for wins in a season.
USF and Briar Cliff tied for first place with a 17-7 mark but the Cougars, via the tie-break, are the top seed. They have already received one of the three automatic berths into the regional tournament.
