Ian Anderson (Urbandale, Iowa), Billy Saul (Humboldt, Iowa), and Brian Woody (Santee, Calif.) have signed letters of intent to continue their baseball careers at Northwestern College next year.
Anderson is a four-year letter winner for Des Moines Christian High School. An outfielder last season, Anderson batted .450 with two doubles and two triples. He earned second team all-conference honors as a junior and helped lead his team to a 16-16 record last season. Anderson, who is the son of Ken and Nancy, plans to major in business marketing at Northwestern.
According to Head Coach Brian Wede, “Ian has played at a high level for his high school, and I anticipate the same type of results here. He is a good fit for not only the baseball team, but the college as well.”
Saul is a three-year letter winner for Humboldt High School as a catcher. Saul, who is the son of Creston and Penni, plans to major in Athletic Training at Northwestern.
“Billy comes to Northwestern with a passion for the game and for the catcher position. I am excited he will be joining us and expect positive things from him," commented Wede.
Woody is a two year letter winner at St. Augustine High School. As a pitcher he led the Saint staff with a 1.31 ERA and helped St. Augustine tally a 23-11 record in 2006. Currently St. Augustine is 11-8 and 4-0 in league play. Woody, the son of Phil and Mary, is an undecided major.
“Brian brings us experience and presence on the mound," says Wede. He comes to us from a very successful program, one that has prepared its players for the next level. I am anxious to watch him develop and compete on the mound in the next four years."
