Baseball team qualifies for GPAC Tournament
|
May 3, 2006
The Red Raider baseball team has qualified for the GPAC postseason tournament for the first time since 2001. NW, seeded seventh with a 10-10 conference record and 18-19 overall, will play second seed Sioux Falls on Thursday, May 4, at 11:00 a.m. USF defeated Coach Nonnemacher's squad twice earlier this season. The Red Raiders finished the last two weeks of the regular season with a record of 7-1, including doubleheader sweeps over GPAC foes Nebraska Wesleyan, Doane and Briar Cliff. Their lone loss during that span was a 2-9 setback in a nine-inning non-conference game against Morningside. Back in 2001, NW qualified for postseason play with a 12-12 GPAC record and were seeded fifth in the six-team tournament. The Red Raiders went 1-1 in the tournament before the tournament was called off due to rain.
