Special events
Members of the Honors Program are eligible to attend special events, both on and off campus. While attendance is not mandatory, participation in these events is considered an important element of Honors Program membership.
Each fall, program members visit a regional university to learn about graduate school. Recent trips have been to Iowa State University, the University of Minnesota and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. During these one-day trips, students learn about graduate school applications, funding options, classes and student life. Students meet with admissions staff, current graduate students and faculty in their chosen area of study. Students often return from these trips excited about graduate education and eager to join their disciplines as professionals. As with all program events, there is no cost to students for the trips.
In addition, the program sponsors an annual panel discussion with professors who are presently pursuing or have recently completed graduate study. Other events will be announced throughout the year and may include special discussions, movie nights and coffeehouse evenings.
