Degree requirements
The Bachelor of Arts degree is granted to students who …
- Complete the requirements of Northwestern’s general education program
- Complete a major (in-depth study in one academic department). The number of credits needed to meet the requirements for a major generally ranges between 28 and 36, depending on the major.
- Complete a minimum of 124 semester credits
- Achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.00 in all course work attempted at NWC and a minimum GPA of 2.00 in the courses comprising your major (a minimum GPA of 2.50 is required for athletic training, education and nursing majors)
- Fulfill the residence requirement. (Students who transfer 30 or more credits to NWC must take their last 30 credits at Northwestern. All other students must take at least 26 of their last 30 credits at Northwestern. Exceptions are made for students majoring in medical technology, dual-degree programs in engineering and nursing, and those in selected pre-professional programs.)
