Northwestern is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In addition, the education department is one of five Iowa colleges accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE); the social work department is among 10 Iowa colleges with baccalaureate programs accredited by the Council on Social Work Education; the athletic training education program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), and the business department is accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE).
