“Together with others at NWC, I want to nurture students to serve in the arts, business, medicine, politics, missions, sociology, education, athletics and more. At the same time, I want to encourage them to explore balance among family, work, church, leisure and civic responsibilities. If we can achieve this, we will have helped them prepare for kingdom citizenship and purposeful Christian living.”

Dr. Jasper Lesage oversees Northwestern’s academic programs, including academic support services like Ramaker Library, the Academic Skills Center and technology services.

Before coming to Northwestern, Lesage was an economics professor and then dean of social sciences at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. His administrative roles included leading committees and task forces in strategic planning, institutional planning, new programs and initiatives, curriculum, graduate education and student assessment. Lesage has given presentations on student assessment at conferences of the American Association for Higher Education, the Council of Independent Colleges, and the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities.

Lesage earned doctoral and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Toronto and has conducted research in economic history. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Ontario’s Brock University.
