Dr. John Brogan oversees student development, which includes residence life, student activities, student fitness and intramural programming, counseling services, health services, campus safety, and food service. The staff of the Franken Center for Faith, Learning and Living also report to Brogan.
A Northwestern religion faculty member from 1997 to 2005 and chair from 2002 to 2004, Brogan served in numerous administrative roles, including chairing the Student Affairs Committee and co-chairing the committee that designed a vision for the college’s new learning commons/library. He also served on the Growth Analysis Task Force and was an international student adviser. Brogan participated in the Leadership Development Institute of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities in 2002.
Brogan has a doctorate in New Testament and Christian origins from Duke University, a Master of Divinity degree from Bethel Theological Seminary (St. Paul, Minnesota), and a Master of Arts in modern Middle Eastern and North African studies from the University of Michigan. He is a published author and has made numerous scholarly presentations. In 2000, he was named the recipient of Northwestern’s Teaching Excellence Award.
